Taiwan's industrial production index in December last year increased by 5.07 percent as compared to December 2012 and was up 3.18 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in November increased 4.4 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
In 2013, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased 0.72 percent year on year.
In December last year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing increased by 0.78 percent and output of metal product manufacturing increased by 5.64 percent, both compared with December 2012. In addition, in December last year the basic metal manufacturing sector saw an increase of 3.89 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw an increase of 5.04 percent, both on month-on-month basis. In 2013, a 3.03 percent year-on-year increase was recorded in Taiwan's basic metal manufacturing output, while the fabricated metal product output index indicated an increase of 1.49 percent compared to 2012.
Meanwhile, in December last year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry increased by 11.69 percent, output in the automotive industry increased by 13.67 percent, while production in the Taiwanese construction sector increased by 21.74 percent, all year on year.
